#3175 – Assistant/Associate Professor of Leadership, College of Education and Organizational Leadership
The College of Education and Organizational Leadership at the University of La Verne invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor to begin July 1, 2012 in the Doctoral Program in Organizational Leadership. We seek a dynamic, creative, scholarly-practitioner committed to quality teaching, student success, and scholarship. The Doctoral Program in Organizational Leadership is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and is considered one of the most successful programs of its kind. Since 1976 it has prepared leaders in the fields of K-12 education, higher education, government, and nonprofit organizations. The core competencies of the program include leadership, change, and contribution as they relate to personal and interpersonal, team, and organizational effectiveness. The program is cohort-based and consists of three years of coursework that is delivered face-to-face as well as virtually. Honoring both practice and scholarship, the curricula provides both depth and breadth of understanding and development culminating in a research dissertation that makes a major contribution to the field. The mission of the doctoral program is “to develop scholarly practitioners as leaders and architects of change who make significant contributions to the organizations and communities they serve.”
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver high quality, state-of-the art doctoral education
- Design, teach, and facilitate small and large group experiential learning activities in a blended environment
- Teach team theories and practice, group development and training
- Advise and Coach students in academic research
- Participate in dissertation advisement and serve on dissertation committees
- Make scholarly contributions to the field, the doctoral program, and the university community
- Attend department, college, and university faculty meetings, serve on committees, and participate in other university activities
- Keep current in theory and practice related to program content
- Must be willing to work some weekends and evenings in addition to weekdays
Required Qualifications (All applicants must):
- Possess an earned Ed.D or Ph.D. in education with an emphasis in leadership from a regionally accredited institution
- Have knowledge of pertinent theory and practice as they relate to program content
- Demonstrate ability to successfully teach graduate/postgraduate level courses using adult learning strategies both face-to-face and virtually in small and large group settings
- Possess effective interpersonal skills – able to deal with diverse, adult populations in close, academic, and professional working relationships
- Have a record of or potential for scholarly publication and research in the discipline
- Live or relocate to within 90 minutes driving distance to the main campus is required
Preferred Qualifications (Preference will be given to candidates with):
- Recent experience in educational leadership position e.g.: school district superintendent
- Evidence of knowledge, skills, and experience in team dynamics and theory and teaching/training teams
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, change-oriented, and collaborative environment
- Experience or potential for advising and serving on doctoral dissertation committees
- Active participation in professional/academic organizations

#3174 – Assistant Professor of Education – Special Education Credentials and Masters of Science, College of Education and Organizational Leadership
The University of La Verne invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Education in the Special Education program. This is a full-time, tenure-track appointment beginning with the 2012-2013 academic year.
Duties include teaching six courses per year at both main and regional campuses; coordinating special education regional campus programs; advising students; participating in scholarship activities; supporting adjunct faculty; working on department/college/university committees; collaborating with other program faculty in the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) accreditation process; contributing to ongoing curriculum development in the Special Education Program, and participating in professional organizations including attendance and presentations at conferences and engagement in research within the field of special education.
This position requires a Doctorate in Special Education or related studies and at least five years of experience as a credentialed special education teaching/administrative in the PK-12 setting. Expertise is required in specialized instruction for mild-moderate disabilities, knowledge of current trends and research in special education, and a broad understanding of technological considerations in special education including: teacher supports, assistive technology and technological literacy for special needs learners. Background in instruction and positive behavioral support for learners on the Autism spectrum with mild-moderate challenges is desirable. This position also requires teaching Masters of Science courses in special education.

#3153 – Assistant/Associate Professor of Education, College of Education and Organizational Leadership and Regional Campus Administration – Bakersfield and San Luis Obispo/Santa Maria Region
The University of La Verne invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Education in the M.S. in Educational Counseling and Pupil Personnel Services Credential Program. This position is an academic, full time, non-tenure track appointment beginning as soon as filled. The basic function of this position is to provide academic oversight for the M.S. in Educational Counseling and P.P.S. program, and serve as a liaison between the College of Education and Organizational Leadership (CEOL) and the Office of Regional Campus Administration (RCA) Centers in the Bakersfield and Santa Maria/San Luis Obispo Region.
The duties of the position include teaching four courses per year within the School Counseling Program; assisting in the recruitment and screening of part-time faculty; providing recommendations to the program leadership for hiring part-time faculty; mentoring and evaluating part-time faculty in order to maintain the quality of the program, based on the National Standards for School Counselors; establishing relationships with local agencies for fieldwork opportunities; working with the program coordinator of field work to place student field workers with local school districts; assisting in the development of the curriculum and in the adoption of textbooks for program courses; attending program informational meetings to describe the School Counseling Program to prospective students; reviewing student transcripts; making presentations at information meetings; conducting individual interviews with prospective candidates; administering the entrance writing assessment; facilitating the submission of required documents for the admission process; and other duties as assigned. Traveling is required to and from the main campus in La Verne, CA to participate in University and CEOL academic governance processes, and department and program meetings as necessary.
This position requires a Master’s degree in Educational Counseling, a valid California Pupil Personnel Services Credential, and a valid California Drivers License. A Doctorate degree is preferred. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable. Candidate must be proficient in the use of technology in the K-12 setting. The University of La Verne invites applications for a Library Technology Coordinator (Assistant Professor/Librarian), a non-tenure track 12-month faculty appointment.
The responsibilities of this position include administering and providing technical support for all aspects of library technology including the Innovative Interfaces Millennium integrated library system; design, operation and maintenance of specialized library systems, electronic resources, proxy server, mobile apps, OPAC, LINK+, ILLIAD, ERM, OCLC, link resolver, research databases, library intranet, etc.; assisting the University Librarian with technology planning and project implementation; serving as primary liaison with the university’s Office of Information Technology to coordinate the maintenance of computer labs, staff computers, smart classrooms, peripherals, library wireless and other instructional equipment; supervising one full-time staff member (Electronic Services Technician); serving as backup for library website maintenance; serving as technical support liaison to database and online service providers; extracting and compiling a wide range of statistical data related to software, hardware and online resource usage on a monthly basis; providing database or technology consultation to library users using multiple formats (in-person, e-mail, phone, and chat); developing, promoting, and delivering effective training, instruction, seminars and workshops; maintaining a program of professional development.
Required: ALA accredited master’s degree in Library Science; minimum two years academic library and technology experience especially with library integrated systems such as Innovative Interfaces, administering web-based solutions using CSS, HTML, XML and related technologies; an understanding of the MARC record; effective written and oral communication skills; the ability to function flexibly in a team environment; excellent interpersonal and training skills (online and face to face); ability to troubleshoot applications. Must be self directed, flexible and adaptable to change, analytical, creative, and results and customer service oriented.
Preferred: Experience supporting document delivery, cataloging, interlibrary loan, or other library workflow processes; content management systems like WordPress; and supervisory experience.
