    On the morning of February 22, 2010, it was discovered that a recent break-in to a Mathematics Department office included the theft of a computer believed to potentially have contained files regarding 232 former students including first and last names, social security numbers, and grades. Every effort is being made to contact all persons whose information may have been included in the computer files by Cal State LA.

COLLEGE OF LAW PICASSO

Contractors will be conducting a job-walk to inspect the College of Law parking lot next Tuesday in preparation for bidding on the repair and resurfacing of the lot. They will likely spray paint all over the parking lot to identify specific types of fixes and work that will be required during the project. Viewing of their art work will be open to the public at no charge.

BOLLARD INSTALLATION

The bollards on the south side of SSAP, west of the music annex, and between the Campus Center and Miller Hall will be replaced sometime during the week of March 15 (providing the supplies arrive on time). Bollards are the poles placed in strategic locations to prevent vehicular traffic from entering pedestrian walkways. The new bollards are being installed to allow easier access to emergency vehicles if needed.

WIRELESS EXPANSION

During the next two weeks wireless access points (WAPs) will be installed in both Woody Hall and Leo Hall, continuing with the move towards ubiquitous wireless coverage on the main campus.

The La Fetra Hall chalkboards will be replaced with whiteboards on Friday, March 12 between noon and 4 p.m. Don’t forget to trade your leftover chalk for dry-erase markers!

They are nasty, they are almost undetectable and they are here…be careful of what websites you visit and what cooties you bring back to your campus computer…details on botnets and their serious impact to your computer safety will be forthcoming in an email from Mancin Taylor, Senior Director of Technology Infrastructure Services.

CONDUIT INSTALLATION IN THE SSAP

The campus Electrician is installing conduit and cabling in the Sports Science & Athletics Pavilion to provide emergency generator power capability to the Emergency Operations Center. When the work is complete, there will be a (planned and communicated) disruption in electrical service as the final connection to the power source is made.

BANNER UPGRADE

The Banner system (including MyLaVerne) will be down during regular system maintenance hours of 12:01-5 a.m. on Wednesday morning, March 10 so that additional storage can be allocated to the system.
