When a staff member leaves the employ of the University, the email account is locked and then turned over to the immediate supervisor so that incoming business emails can be attended to (as per policy). It is recommended that the supervisor activates the automatic-reply feature with a message stating something like “Former-employee-name has left the employ of the University of La Verne. Please send any business-related emails to name, title, at email-address. Thank you.” with the actual person/title, etc. used instead of the words in blue.
