Compassionate Cities Meeting
Sun. November 13, 3:30-5pm
What Compassionate things are being done in our cities? How can we lift the consciousness of our communities into awareness of our interrelatedness. What can we do to create Compassionate Cities in our Inland Valley? See what we’ve done, are working on and look at the possibilities before us!
5-6 pm Book Study on Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life continues with Bill Lesher. At Unity of Pomona, 524 E. Pasadena, Pomona 91767.
Compassion is a critical component of all religious traditions, yet learning about it is not the same as practicing it. Our world, our communities and ourselves need compassion and compassionate action. We in the “Inland Valley” are working towards building Compassionate Cities, through deepening compassion and an understanding of compassion within ourselves and our communities. Based on working with The Charter for Compassion’s Golden Rule, over
50 Countries now have cities that walked through the steps to become a Compassionate City.
Hate, fear and separation seem to be on the rise, as egos use these as tools to gain power. However, we must remind all of our underlying spiritual essence of compassion that binds us together in the Divine.
Bill Lesher will be helping us deepen our understanding of Compassion by reviewing the book by Karen Armstrong, Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life between 5-6 pm. Please read through chapter 4 for this discussion.
We invite the Inland Valley community members and city officials to attend. All are welcome. Please bring a snack to share.
