The Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program (WGSS) at the University of La Verne in California is one of the newest programs at our institution, with faculty members across the Liberal Arts teaching and advising students. The program sponsors a minor, an annual conference, and numerous campus-wide activities including performance productions, workshops, lectures, publications and art exhibits.
In the WGSS program, students have the opportunity to think critically about gender and sexuality within the complex weave of cultural, historical, political, and social forces, recognizing that gender and sexuality are deeply shaped by context, location, and other significant identities, such as race, class, nationality, religion, age, and ability.
